When the OnePlus 8 was launched earlier this year it was a surprise that OnePlus did not include the 65W charging that OPPO had included in their Find X2 Pro. OnePlus has always licensed OPPO’s fast charging technology but this time they did not include it instead opting for the big ticket item to be 30W fast wireless charging.
Overnight OnePlus have shared a video via their social media channels that implies that they will be upgrading the wired charging of their device this time around. While it is not certain the exact speeds at which the phone will charge at OnePlus are stating that they will not slow down, implying that the next version of their flagship will have faster charging — 65W.
We don't slow down. #OnePlus8T

A teaser for the OnePlus 8T launch posted to their website (that is only viewable on mobile) shows an animations that starts off showing the battery split into two. Doing this allows the battery to charge much faster. This is the technique that OPPO use in their 65W charging technology hence the jump to the OnePlus 8T 65W conclusion.
From the video we can infer that the OnePlus 8T will be using what is likely to be 65W charging to charge the 3,100mAh battery inside it. Yes that battery seems incredibly small and we will have to wait and see if it is too small. Having used 65W charging on an OPPO Find X2 Pro I can tell you that it will charge the device to full in under 20 minutes which is amazingly handy.
Of course not being sold officially here in Australia will put off many Aussies but we know that there are still quite a few who do go to the effort of buying OnePlus phones. Hopefully one day we won’t have to go to so much effort.
