We spotted a new Lenovo Smart Clock heading through the FCC earlier this week and hoped that we might be in line for an updated model. Today we find the Lenovo has put up the full product page on their website.
With these details, there is very little left to guess except pricing and availability. The updated Google Assistant Powered Smart Clock is packing a 4-inch IPS LCD display and is clad in the same Googly cloth and will ship in Slate Gray, Black and Aqua Blue.
|Display||4″ LCD IPS Touchscreen|
|Memory||1GB RAM + 8GB Flash|
|Dimensions (H x W x D)||93.30mm x 113.48mm x 71.33mm / 3.67″ x 4.47″ x 2.81″|
|Weight||Starting at 298g / 0.66lbs|
|Buttons / Switches||
|Exterior Material||Soft-touch fabric|
|Expandability||Docking-capable with Pogo pin|
As you can see the new version has a slightly taller aspect hopefully making the display easier to see from a lying position. However the big news here is an optional wireless charging pad, the Clock has pogo pins on the button which mate with a charging pad that delivers a Qi charger, USB-A port and inbuilt night light.
I have to admit that with the inbuilt Google Photos Clock face it is possible to get fairly good functionality out of these little devices. However, for those thinking of making the switch just consider that the new Nest Hub includes Home Automation controls and advanced sleep tracking.
If however what you are looking for is an alarm clock replacement then the Lenovo Smart Clock 2 could do that and a whole lot more. We did notice that there doesn’t seem to be any radios to support the new Matter home automation protocol, which is a bit of a shame.
We will keep an eye out for an official announcement and let you Australian pricing and availability when it is announced.
