When realme launched some of its recent phones they promised us that

“All models are guaranteed security patches two years from launch, and models from the number and X series are guaranteed one Android OS version update”.

While a longer guaranteed period for security updates would be nice (their sister company OPPO promises 3 years), realme have followed through on their promise of one Android OS version update for the recent 7 5G model.

On top of the OS upgrade realme also included plenty of feature improvements to personalisation, system and launcher settings, security/privacy and more. Screenshots of the full changelog are below:

Thanks for the update Neerav. I got it as a back-up phone on sale at JB Hi Fi for $300 with bonus headphones. Probably the best mid-range handset I’ve had the pleasure of using. My daily driver is the Oppo Find X3 and to be honest the Realme would happily work for 90% of the population. Whilst I love the speed and build of the Oppo, at over $1000+ more it’s a hard pill to swallow If this had a 120hz OLED panel I’d call it my ideal phone.
