Hot on the heels of the announcement of their planned merger, Vodafone has today announced a revamp of their pre-paid plans offering both monthly and year long Combo Plus plans.
The new Combo Plus plans replace Vodafone’s existing data and talk plan, simplifying the range into six new options. Vodafone Chief Commercial Officer, Ben McIntosh said of the new plans,
‘We’ve looked at what our customers use most and we’ve simplified our pre-paid plans to include more data and international call minutes to more destinations than ever before’.
The plans split various countries into separate tiers, with Mr McIntosh noting that ‘India, New Zealand and China are the three most called destinations using Vodafone’s pre-paid international minutes’. Using this data Vodafone has upped the inclusions across plans.
The plans are split across monthly or yearly options, with the three 365-day expiry plans charged at $30, $40 and $50 which last for 365 days and offer data, calls and text charged individually at a rate of 2c/MB for data, 20c/min for standard national calls and 20c/SMS for standard national text or you can look at monthly plans.
Vodafone also offers monthly options, though confusingly they offer different expiry dates – Vodafone has also bundled international minutes into their higher tier plans though with countries split into two international zones.
The $30 Combo Plus Starter Pack, which include 6GB of data and unlimited talk and text to standard Australian numbers expiring after 28 Days. The next two plans offer 35-day expiry and unlimited talk and text to standard Australian numbers and some international minutes to both Tier 1 and Tier 2 countries. The $40 (currently half-price until 2nd October) plan offering 17GB of data, while their larger $50 plan gives you 30GB of data.

I dont understand the difference between the 3 tiers of 365 day plans.
Also they seem pretty expensive if you allow for a smallish amount of usage. $10 for 500mb seems a bit steep.
It does. I think the intent of the 365 day plans is for users who don’t use a lot of data, calls or Text. It’s a pay as you go plan basically, offering credit of $30, $40 or $50 which lasts 365 days.
