In a surprise twist, belying their history with updates, Australian online electronics retailer Kogan has begun rolling out an Android update.
The Kogan Agora 6+ is the first Agora branded device we’ve seen receive an update, with Ausdroid reader Gregory advising his handset has received the prompt to update overnight. The update, which is 1.4GB in size, updates the software from Marshmallow to Nougat (Android 7.0) with the security patch now sitting at April 5th 2017.

The Kogan Agora 6 Plus is still on-sale through the Kogan website for $349 + delivery, and though the security patches aren’t quite up to date, it’s better than we’ve come to expect from Kogan to date. Specs on the handset aren’t earth shattering, but decent:

We’ve reached out to the Kogan PR team to see if any other Agora devices will be updated. If you jumped on board with Kogan Agora 6 Plus, then you should probably check for updates now.
There is no Point Buying their Android TV’s If you want to download and use the 9Now app as they advertise You Can, You Cant! The 9Now catch up TV app isn’t available for their android version. Stick with a Sony and Don’t get fooled like I did
How can I get a download link for the full firmware? I don’t seem to get the update from the ota update app
I bloody love my 6+! Nougat update went smooth as silk, as did a patch released on 12 July (40MB tidy up). Current version is now M1_PLUS_N_AU_MT6755_65_V2.5_20170712-1634
Thanks Kogan!
anyone tested android pay on the new update? my phone says device not compatible now
Kills the Bluetooth on the phone, prettymuch unusable.
Bluetooth works for me… What do you mean?
Hi guys,
I’ve tried updating my Kogan Agora 6+ to Android 7.0 using the official updater, but it only downloads up to 30mb before either telling me I have an SD card error (even when it’s not inside the device) or that network connection failed (even though my internet is still working perfectly fine). I have tried rebooting the device several times and retrying the download, but none of that seems to work. A solution would be greatly appreciated!
Are you downloading over mobile data or Wi-Fi? How strong is your signal?
You could always try to wipe your smartphone and then immediately upgrade to Android 7.0 (“Nougart”)… I know it’s a pain, but I had a similar issue with a Sony tablet a few years ago, and that was how I got around it.
This update actually makes this phone worth looking at I think.
Still waiting for my update for the Moto X Play if it ever is going to happen.
Interestingly, my children’s Sony Xperia XAs still haven’t seen an Android 7.x (“Nougart”) upgrade yet… Looks like Kogan is staying ahead of a few “mainstream” manufacturers.
Note to self: Next time I should write-down or screenshot the changelog!
Anyway from memory, it wasn’t too much… The changelog said that the first SIM slot is now 4G, and the second SIM slot is 3G (it used to be 3G/2G, respectively)(why didn’t they do this the first time around?), “bug fixes” and obviously, the upgrade to Android 7.0 “Nougart”.
If I remember correctly, that was all that was shown in the changelog…

Idiot – the changelog is shown in the screenshot I took above!
Okay, feel free to point and laugh… I am.
