Sony will be announcing new mobiles at their IFA press conference, and it appears the high-end Xperia XZ1 will be there with pics of an almost ‘final’ version leaking.
The shots come courtesy of Turkish site, SonyXperiaAilesi who’ve shown the phone off from all angles. The design seems very familiar to anyone who has seen an Xperia phone with the usual large top and bottom bezels, squared off design and button placement (including the dedicated shutter button). The rear shows that the NFC tap target has moved to the top of the phone beside the LED Flash module in the centre.
The Xperia XZ1 is expected to be another high-end handset though will offer something for users wanting a smaller screen, with the specs on the front of the phone showing it come with a 5.2″ HDR display. Internally, the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 64GB storage and come with a 19MP Motion Eye camera sensor that includes the 960fps ‘Super Slow-Mo’ video capture launched on the Xperia XZ Premium, a 13MP front-facing sensor rounds out the camera specs. As usual with Sony handsets, the phone will be IP65/68 dust and water resistant.
The Sony IFA press announcement is set for August 31st at 1pm CST which is around 9pm AEST for those wanting to tune in to the announcement. We’ll be checking in with Sony for local availability when the announcements are made.
