Anyone who has used OPPO’s SuperVOOC will know just how good it is. In my opinion is twice as fast as any other fast charging solution in the market — and it just got better. The all new SuperVOOC 2.0 has been unveiled in China this week alongside the OPPO Reno Ace and a blazingly fast 30W wireless charging solution.

SuperVOOC 2.0 — the new leader of the pack

OPPO have done it again with the “world’s most advanced production charging solution” with the 65W SuperVOOC 2.0. While the VOOC 3.0 from earlier this year was a bit of a disappointment and a definite step back from the original SuperVOOC we saw in the Find X last year. SuperVOOC 2.0 is set to soothe any VOOC 3.0-ruffled feathers with never before seen charging speeds.

The SuperVOOC 2.0 is the world’s most advanced production charging solution, with the ability to safely fully charge a 4000mAh battery in just 30 minutes. It achieves these speeds through a combination of OPPO’s customisation and optimisation in hardware, software and algorithms.

For those worried about another exploding battery scandal OPPO’s customisation suppresses heat generation using “Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductors” to shorten the charging time while also reducing the adapter size. There are five safety protection measures throughout the adapter, wire and handset ends to ensure the safety of not just the phone but the user themselves.

30W Wireless VOOC is the new wireless benchmark

Many companies are improving the wireless charging solutions they are implementing in their smartphones and OPPO have done that too with their new 30W wireless VOOC charging. Their 30W charging is in fact faster than many wired solutions from even premium smartphones (even the non-Android varieties) — it’s speed is as fast as wired VOOC which is a feat in itself.

OPPO’s wireless VOOC flash charge can change the same 4,000mAh battery to full in just 80 minutes but it does these speeds through a non-Qi standard. It is compatible with the Qi standard though supporting both 5W and 10W charging.

Once again OPPO have not scrimped on safety with HVDC and foreign object detection function to ensure that charging stops when foreign metal objects are detected interfering with charging.

In a world where charging is going to be ever important with the 5G battery hogging feature arriving in many phones in the next year or two and it seems that OPPO are leading the fight to solve the battery solution.

Will we see them here in Australia?

OPPO have told us that we will be seeing both of these technologies in Australia but have no word just when or in what form they will arrive here.

OPPO’s Australia’s MD said that “these new updates to our industry-leading flash charging technology showcase OPPO’s unwavering efforts to push the boundaries and deliver innovations that meet the needs of everyday Aussies without compromising on quality or safety…. power-demanding apps and the emerging 5G network will generate new demand for battery life and charging experience. OPPO has continuously upgraded its VOOC charging technologies, allowing users to charge whenever they want with however much time they have in their everyday lives.”

No one likes a dead battery and in a continual fight between increased usage and battery usage OPPO seems to be waging a war that it is winning. Hopefully we will see these technologies in a new OPPO flagship before too long so we can check them out for ourselves. Stay tuned for that.

I’ll take a less powerful charging solution that works across a broad range of devices, over a company-specific tech any day.
