HMD Global, the powerhouse brand behind the Nokia branded smartphones, has today announced and launched the Nokia XR20, a device that has been built to last. The Nokia XR20 comes with a 6.67-inch IPS LCD display that’s is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm SM4350 Snapdragon 480 5G chipset alongside 6GB RAM alongside 128GB onboard storage.

It is powered by Android 11 right out of the box and HMD global have confirmed that the Nokia XR20 will get 4 years worth of security updates and 3 years worth of firmware OS updates.

In terms of cameras, the Nokia XR20 comes with a dual rear camera set up 48MP main camera lens with a 13MP wide angle camera lens. In terms of the front facing camera, you will get a single 8MP camera. It will also come with a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax-ready, Wi-Fi dual-band (2.4GHz + 5.0GHz), 2×2 MiMo.

The Nokia XR20 has been built and designed to be able to withstand extreme temperatures, 1.8m drops, one hour underwater and more. HMD Global has stated that the Nokia XR20 was put through its paces thanks to Brazilian football legend, Roberto Carlos and female world champion freestyler, Lisa Zimouche put the new Nokia XR20 through a series of tough tests.

HMD Global has stated that it has also entered into a 2 year partnership industry-leading providers such as Spotify and ExpressVPN to have their apps and services installed on all new Nokia devices such as the Nokia XR20 going forward.

The Nokia XR20 will be available in Ultra Blue and Granite colour options and will go on sale for $879 and will be available from August 12 at JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks (online), Harvey Norman, Big W (Online) and The Good Guys (online) and Nokia.com/phones.

What about SD memeory ? A must have IMO. How does this compare to Samsungs X Cover Pro, which has a replaceable battery and SD Expansion ?
