Android Wear has seemingly stalled but there is apparently light at the end of the tunnel. Last week Google told developers that Android Wear 2.0 was “launching in early February, 2017”. Today perennial leaker Evan Blass has given us a more specific date, February 9.

Many of us are holding off on purchasing any new watches until we see Google’s (and everyone elses) Android Wear 2.0 watches, which are expected to launch alongside the release of Android Wear 2.0. The new watches (yes, two from Google) are expected to arrive at the same time as Android Wear 2.0 and designed to showcase the new version of the wearable OS so it doesn’t seem we will have long to wait for them.

Android Wear 2.0 is expected to bring it’s own version of the Play Store allowing the installation of apps directly to the watch, bypassing the phone entirely. Although I am not too sure about this myself it is exciting to see any update and new devices.

So, on the 9th of February, set your reminder in your calendar, clear some room on your credit card and get ready for Android Wear 2.0.
