The Star Wars: Jedi Challenges – Dark Side Expansion announced at IFA earlier this year is heading out today, bringing with it Ship Battles Game Experience and the option to battle as a Sith.
Dark Side
Previously the Jedi Challenges game has allowed you to battle as Rey and other characters from the Light Side of the force, but now you can take on the role of Kylo Ren and engage in battle with Yoda or Rey. You’ll also now be able to use Force Pull to bring an opponent closer, as well as activate a Second Wind giving you the chance to heal yourself and get another shot at winning the battle.
The Dark Side expansion has also brought a new Lightsaber accessory, a lovingly recreated replica of Kylo Ren’s saber. It’s on-sale in the US only at the moment for $99 and there’s been no mention from Lenovo as to whether the accessory will be making its way down under. To offset this lack of ability when you load the new Dark Side expansion in your system here in Australia Kylo Ren’s lightsaber is overlaid over your existing accessory in the game.
Ship Battles
Like the Star Wars Holo Chess that launched with the original game, the new Ship Battles inclusion adds another fun addition to the Lenovo AR system. In Ship Battles you can take control of the massive Imperial Star Destroyers or the Mon Calamari Cruiser favoured by General Ackbar and battle, real-time in local multiplayer matches.
In Ship Battles you’ll manage the offensive and defensive aspects of a massive space battle, managing the turbolasers, shields and deployment of bombers and attack ships. You’ll need to use support ships and split your attacks to gain strategic advantage in three dimensions managing your defences and attacks down to an individual ships.
The update is available in Google Play now, but if you still haven’t grabbed a Lenovo Mirage headset you can get one for just $199 from the Lenovo Australia online store.
