In case you missed it (or forgot about it) way back in 2016 Google released an app called Crowdsource. The app aims to help by giving users the ability to contribute through very quick tasks such as

  • Image transcriptions
  • Handwriting recognition
  • Translation
  • Translation validations and
  • Maps translation validation

Generally speaking these will take less than 20 seconds at a time.

The underlying aim here is to assist Google in its AI capabilities to do so without human intervention.

The Crowdsource app is rolling out an update at the moment that gives really clean, fresh UI to users as well as a new icon. The icon I really like, it’s using the Google colours with figures of people together: What this app is really about.

The update hasn’t rolled out to any of our team yet, but we’ll be keeping our eyes open for the update.
