With their Sing-Tel corporate parent having part ownership in the Filipino based tele-communications company Globe, they’re also offering 150 Satellite phones to help people stay connected where existing infrastructure such as towers and phone networks have been damaged by the typhoon. They are also offering an Employee Assistance program to their staff in affected areas.
Singtel will also donate AUD$43,000(SGD$50,000) on behalf of their Optus and Singapore based Employees, to World Vision’s Typhoon Haiyan Appeal.
David Epstein, Vice President Corporate and Regulatory Affairs said
Australians know all too well the devastation of natural disasters, so Optus recognises that this is a very difficult time for many of our customers.
Optus wants to help alleviate some of the fear and anxiety of not being able to contact loved ones by offering a helping hand. Our thoughts are with affected customers and communities at this time.
Donate where you can to help all of those affected by this terrible tragedy.
