Telstra’s leading mobile coverage has always come at a premium price but for a limited time, new customers can hop on the largest mobile network in Australia and get 60GB to burn for just $49 per month. That works out to be $588 over 12 months; a cheap way to spend the year on Telstra’s network if you already own your phone.

The $49 SIM-only plan also includes unlimited national calls and text and unlimited international calls and text to 15 selected countries.

Telstra usually charges existing customers $59 per month for 60GB or $49 per month for 15GB, so now is a pretty good time to switch if you were on the fence. Here’s how Telstra’s deal compares to other big data plans on the market:

While 60GB per month is plenty of data for on-the-go use, this Telstra plan also includes data-free Apple Music streaming, access to Telstra Air WiFi hotspots, and data-free subscriptions to Aussie sports streaming apps for AFL, AFLW, NRL, Netball Live and Hyundai A-League.

And if you If you manage to burn through your entire allowance, the plan also includes “Peace of Mind” data which gives you unlimited data capped at speeds of 1.5Mbps and no excess usage fees.

It’s worth noting that you’ll need to commit to a 12-month contract to take advantage of this deal.

I really don’t understand why Telstra don’t offer these deals to existing customers on sim only plans to try and keep them on their network. I’m on a 30GB sim only plan with Telstra for $39 per month that expires in November and I would sign up for this for $49 if I was able to. Oh well

Paul

Until they bring back data pooling I don’t see how Telstra can be a realistic option for families or people with multiple devices.

Optus reply is 100gb for $50.00 a month 🙂
