The 2016 European Soccer Championship, more commonly known as UEFA kicks off in just over under a week in France. The competition will see 24 teams competing in 6 groups through the month long tournament. Google Now is starting to prompt users to follow their favourite teams for updates during the championship with a new card prompt.
The addition of some of the teams like English or Albanian national teams isn’t new thanks to their appearance at events like the FIFA World Cup. But, some teams like Iceland and Northern Ireland are very likely new (hey we’ve never had cause to check them – sorry), and the card to prompt you to add UEFA teams is definitely a first.
The card seems to appear if you’ve shown a previous interest in soccerfine, Football, in terms of following one of the teams in a European league – yes, the English Premier League is a European league.
The card itself looks like this (Thanks Jamie), which you can scroll through to select your UEFA team, and as you can see includes a ‘+’ link to add your favourite team :
If you’re a football fan, you should be checking Google Now for the prompt.
Who’ve you got for UEFA champions this year?
Thanks to our time difference, as always I’ll miss all of them.
Damn. You lost me money ;). We were betting that the first comment would be an AFL fan whingeing about the lack of AFL scores in Google Now.
Yeah, I tend to get up for the final and that’s about it really.
OK I’ll Bite, DAMMIT GOOGLE WHERE IS MY AFL SCORES!
Sorry mate, would have won you money if I had seen this earlier! Must annoy Telstra about this again! They were meant to be looking into. Could hit up your Telstra contacts again could you?
