LG Australia finally gave us all the launch information on the Australian launch of the LG G7 ThinQ this week and it seems the team over at iFixit have already cast their eye over the phone to check it out for repairability.
The phone has scored a 4/10 for repairability putting it on par with the Huawei P20 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S9, both of which achieved the same score in their respective teardowns.
On the down side for the G7, it has glass on the front and back doubling your chances for cracking something, and there’s also strong adhesive holding it all together. iFixit also pinged them on difficulty in repairing or replacing the screen, with a complete disassembly required.
The team did like the modularity of components in the phone, allowing parts, including the battery to be replaced independently, though the glued on rear panel makes for a more difficult repair.
