Hyundai IONIQ 6

The new Hyundai IONIQ 6 offers prospective Australian electric car purchasers who don’t want an SUV, a refreshing sedan option loaded with industry leading tech.

Some of the key features include:

  • up to 614km WLTP range in the DYNAMIQ variant.
  • ultra-low aerodynamic 0.217 coefficient of drag for the DYNAMIQ variant.
  • 10-80% super fast charging in 18 minutes from a 350kW DC charger, thanks to the 800V architecture.
  • 12.3 inch digital virtual instrument cluster & 12.3 inch Multimedia navigation unit.
  • Over-The-Air (OTA) vehicle system updates for the first time in a Hyundai EV, Bluelink connected car services with an expanded suite of EV-specific features.
  • ANCAP maximum 5-star safety rating.

It is our understanding that 1000 Ioniq 6 cars have been allocated to Australia for 2023, with 300 already sold.

Driveaway pricing will vary from state to state but the NSW configurator for a Sydney postcode says $76,549 for the base level DYNAMIQ variant.

There are 3 variants:

  • DYNAMIQ offers the longest driving range, in a premium package
  • TECHNIQ brings additional power, all-wheel drive, and an array of extra features
  • EPIQ is the ultimate grade and features cutting-edge technology including Digital Side Mirrors and a battery conditioning system

I really like how ordinary and conventional the dash on the Ioniq looks.

This is why I bought the Ioniq EV over the Tesla Model 3. Both were similarly priced, roughly even features and performance (though the Model 3 is a bit more spritely) but … the Ioniq felt like a car. The Tesla Model 3 felt like a UFO.

That and I just can’t bring myself to give Elmo my money.

Why does the front of these electric cars always look so dull and crappy?

Getting mine this weekend. Couldn’t wait for EV6 GT Line.

Techniq with matte/gold. Didn’t want digital side mirrors.
