As Fuchsia OS rolls out to Nest Hub devices, there isn’t a noticeable difference in daily function which is impressive. One of the reasons that this is so impressive is that it’s a completely new OS designed from the ground up.
For anyone wondering how to tell if a device has been updated, the Google Support page has recently been updated with instructions on how to tell:
- Swipe up from the bottom of the display screen.
- Tap Settings and then About device.
- You will find your Software Version and Cast Firmware Version.
- Scroll to the bottom.
- If “Operating System Version” is also listed, your device is running Fuchsia.
As already stated, there isn’t much by way of obvious, user-facing changes. If you’re a regular user of the casting capability, you may notice that the casting commences quicker than previously. The other change we’ve seen is that navigation through the menus is a little faster. What users will see from the OS update in the future is unclear right now, but we’ll hope for some big things.
