Google has fond memories of the old Disney read-along books obviously, today announcing they’ve partnered up with the old House of Mouse to produce a series of interactive storytelling experiences for Google Home.

The concept is simple, you grab one of the selected Little Golden Books (remember those?) featuring stories from Disney and Pixar and tell Google Home ‘Hey Google, let’s read along with Disney’ to start. The Home device will recognise where you are in the story and supply ‘sound effects and music to bring the story to life’, and you can even pause, or skip through the story to different parts and Google will keep up or play mood music until you resume reading the story.

The list of titles supported by the feature includes Moana, Toy Story 3, Coco, Jack Jack Attack, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, The Three Little Pigs, Mickey Mouse and his Spaceship and Mickey’s Christmas Carol, with the books available to purchase from US-retailers Walmart, Target and Barnes & Noble.

With the limited availability of the books, the attempt at issuing the command simply saw Google Home confused by the command, so it looks like another US-only feature. We’ll hopefully see one of these neat features roll out here one day.
