Those who have been to Mobile World Congress before know that it can be a hard, dry slog. There’s hundreds, if not thousands, of vendors, booths and more to see and getting around to even your preferred booths for tours, interviews and flavour for news articles can be hard work.
Google isn’t announcing anything at MWC 2016, and there’s no real surprise there (they don’t usually announce things this time of the year), but they certainly have a presence at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, as they have had for the last couple of years. In what has become a bit of a crowd favourite, Google is organising a scavenger hunt of sorts, sending MWC attendees on the hunt to find 87 collectible pins scattered around partner booths and in other places.
Upon collecting the Android badges for particular days or levels, attendees can attain a coveted bronze, silver or gold Android pin as well … and believe us, they look quite nice.
The badges are available from partner booths, from Android experiences between halls two and three, and from other places around the MWC venue depending on the time of day. Of course, this isn’t all that Google is doing, with attendees given the option to Androidify themselves, and have their Android character printed on an aluminium drink bottle as well.
For those who are newsed out with Sony, Samsung and LG all announcing new Android devices and ecosystems, Android’s scavenger hunt for MWC attendees is a lot of fun. We’re only here for two days out of three that the hunt is on, so we probably won’t collect them all, but we’ll give it a damned good shot!
How many sets of pins are you bringing back??? hope you don’t get stung for excess luggage.
87 pins… you are going to need both lanyards!
