With the rumoured launch of Android 7.0 Nougat, and of course the release of new Nexus hardware to go along with it, it appears the price reductions on last years Nexus models have begun. First off the block is the Nexus 5X, which JB Hi-Fi are reducing by $200 this week dropping the 32GB Black coloured model down to just $447.
The deal is via their ‘Weekly Instant Deal’ but does mean you need to sign up for their instant deals promotion. The promotion sends you through weekly deals to take part of, but if you’re not into that you can always sign up and then unsubscribe once you get your voucher. The hardware spec list for the Nexus 5X looks good if you’re wanting to get one.

Chris didn’t have the greatest experience with the Nexus 5X when he reviewed it soon after launch last year, a view that a number of us shared here at Ausdroid after forking out our own money to buy one. But, the phone will get Android 7.0 when it’s launched (possibly this month) and, well, it’s a Nexus, so if you’re in the market for a new phone this isn’t a bad deal especially if you like to get up to date software.
This phone has nice features but the performance is horrible, I still wouldn’t recommend at this price unless you are a light user. Doesn’t multi task well at all, can’t wait to be rid of mine.
Bought one for my wife from eGlobal, albeit a 16GB model for just over $300 delivered. The 32GB versions is priced very sharply too. Definitely worth weighing up the pros and cons of getting an import vs brick & mortar (i.e. can save a lot of money if you’re willing to forego the local warranty and deal with a foreign charger).
Good phone for the dollars though, she’s been rapt with it.
Ditto for me re the sub-par experience with the 5X. Can’t recommend it to anyone.
Why do you guys put a dash instead of “No” for Removable Battery? Surely you are aware the device has a non-removable battery.
Because when entering the data into our database it’s literally a binary option (1 for yes, 0 for no).
But NFC and Headphone Port give “Yes”, so surely you should or could amend this so you can inform consumers the accurate info…
Not if theres only two options and one of those is sometimes ‘we dont know’ . Thankfully a hyphen is also a good indicator that a feature is missing.
It just seems inconsistent. And stating “we don’t know” seems like you ought to change the database. I dunno, I don’t wanna keep going on about it, but it bugs me is all. No offense intended.
I may have missed it, but has the camera app been updated to address the limitations that Chris experienced?
I have mone right here. No, its still very slow.
Thank you Daniel. Not the answer I was hoping for, but an answer nonetheless. I think I’ll wait for a discounted 6P instead.
