Google’s Android distribution numbers may be boring for the most part for many readers, but they do give insight into where the platform sits on a monthly basis. Google has released this months figures so let’s dive in.
This month, even with the release of Nougat in August we’re still not seeing any statistically significant (0.1% or more) numbers for Nougat as yet, meaning that the halting rollout of the OS update may have affected market share significantly. We’ll see what happens next month.
On the other versions, Marshmallow and the 5.1 version of Lollipop saw gains, whereas every other version lost market share. Marshmallow got a fairly significant bump, up 3.5%, while Lollipop 5.1 saw a more modest increase of 0.5%.
