After a lacklustre start to the year the Android Wear 2.0 hardware situation is finally heating up thanks to the offerings coming out of Swiss luxury watch expo Baselworld. Tonight it was the Fossil Group who announced their new Android Wear offerings.
Fossil Group which makes the watches for brands that includes Armani, DKNY, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Skagen, and Fossil, have announced over 300 styles of Android Wear and hybrid smartwatches over 14 different brands. The Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches will all run on Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipsets. The brands releasing the Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch include Diesel, Emporio Armani, Michael Kors and of course Fossil. Each brand will have it’s own app with the design of it based on the identity of each company.
Fossil will be releasing a pair of Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches, the Q Venture and the Q Explorist. Fossil are touting these new smartwatches as the “Slimmest” smartwatches available. Best of all, from the images Fossil Group have released, it seems that the watches are sans the “spare tyre” that detracted from an otherwise amazing watch with their Android Wear 1.0 watches.
The Diesel smartwatch will be priced at $325US when it goes on sale in the States but it is unknown if it will even make it here let alone how much it will cost. We do expect the Fossil watches to arrive here in Australia at some stage and have reached out to Fossil Australia for more information on local pricing and release date.
