Google has today made a significant move in their Internet of Things platform: Android Things, releasing a preview of the developer console that will be used to control the growing network of internet connected devices.

The console offers developers easy access to a range of controls needed to administer to, and update the growing number of IoT devices. From the console, developers can update the OS using OTA updates or update any APKs installed. Developers can also create factory images.

The update side is important with Google advising:

Devices need to run a system image downloaded via the Android Things Console in order to receive future updates, such as the upcoming Developer Preview 5

Google is taking a very community led approach to the Android Things platform, asking for feature requests and bug reports to be filed, so head over and offer your thoughts.
