The Galaxy Camera has been one of the best use cases for Android we saw last year but it is a little much for some people as an outright cost. One of our readers Carsten has tipped us that iinet is now selling the Galaxy Camera which you can either purchase outright for $579 or on a plan with a $22 per month ‘handset’ repayment. Plans start at $19.95 per month($14.95 when bundled with another iinet service) which includes 4GB of data(2GB/2GB peak/offpeak) although the included data plans do go up to a 20GB option :
Plan | Quota Peak + off-peak |
Unbundled price | Bundled price? | Excess usage |
---|---|---|---|---|
3G Mobile Broadband 4GB | 2GB + 2GB | $19.95 | $14.95 | 5c/MB |
3G Mobile Broadband 8GB | 4GB + 4GB | $29.95 | $24.95 | 5c/MB |
3G Mobile Broadband 16GB | 8GB + 8GB | $39.95 | $34.95 | 5c/MB |
3G Mobile Broadband 20GB | 10GB + 10GB | $59.95 | $54.95 | 5c/MB |
iinet Disclaimer : Peak time is 07:00am – midnight AEST/AEDST, Off-Peak time is midnight – 07:00am AEST/AEDST every day. Minimum total cost over a 12 month contract on the 3G Mobile Broadband 4GB unbundled plan is $268.40 ($19.95 monthly plan fee + $29.00 modem cost).
The phones are shipped out within a 3-7 working day period to your door or nearest post office and are covered by a 24 month warranty according to the iinet rep I spoke to. There is also an offer of an extra battery and charger as a bonus running at the moment but as usual stocks are limited.

Both Tia and Jason have the Galaxy Camera and are working on a review for us but if you really want to jump on board head over to the iinet webpage and check out the deal.
Pretty expensive from iiNET considering that Kogan was doing it for $349 only a week ago through their deals. I know, local warranties etc – but does not justify for an over $200 difference.
To be honest, I’d rather tether it to my phone. Do everything through the one SIM card. Paying for another full monthly plan doesn’t appeal to me. But then if I took alot of photos for a living, it might make more sense.
