Good news everyone, Oreo is coming to your supported Nexus and Pixel devices. That’s what Google are saying anyway.

They’ve announced the rollout on social media with a link to the Google Blog announcing Android Oreo, saying simply:

The update has begun rolling out here in Australia with a number of users confirming the update has arrived on their Pixels, though we’re not seeing reports of Nexus devices receiving the update as yet. You can of course simply enroll your supported device in the Android Beta program, with our experience showing the update pushed via OTA is the same as the one rolling out.

The Nexus 5X and 6P were sold on carriers here in Australia, with Vodafone and Optus selling the 6P, while Telstra opted for the 5X. So far Telstra has not listed the update status of the 5X on their software update page, and Vodafone only list the Android 7.1.2 update on the 23rd of August entry on theirs, with no mention on their latest. Optus however has advised they are testing 8.0 for the 6P, but give no update date.

Canadian carrier Rogers has advised Nexus 6P’s on their network will begin receiving Oreo on the 11th of September, so the wait may not be too long.

If you’ve got a Nexus 5X or 6P let us know when you receive your Oreo update.

No Oreo for Nexus 6P on Vodafone. Cadbury’s might be having delivery and/or production issues.

Thanks AP. I am on Telstra and received the 8.0 OTA yesterday (was on 7.1.2)

What device do you have? I’ve seen nothing on my Nexus 5X yet.

I was on the O beta and got the upgrade to non-beta on the day it was released on my 6P.

The only issue I’m experiencing with O so far on my Pixel is with Bluetooth. Connectivity is generally very solid but I’m sometimes noticing scratchy/broken audio. Hopefully 8.0.1 follows quickly with a few bug kills.

Maybe I’m just lucky but I received the OTA a week or so ago and I just thought everyone was getting it. I was on O beta, unsubscribed, did a factory reset and then opted in for beta again and BAM! OTA popped up

Does opting for Beta require a wipe of the phone?

I downloaded the OTA image and used ADB on my Nexus 5X. The update was smooth and no glitches so far. I got sick of waiting for the normal OTA update.
