If you’re an amateur skateboarder then Huawei Australia may just have a competition that could slingshot you into the big time. Announced today the Huawei Pro For A Day competition is part of their sponsorship of the Bowl-A-Rama Skate competition which is being held at Bondi on the 23rd of February.
To enter the competition, amateur skaters will need to film and upload a video of their best trick to the Huawei Device Australia Facbook page and start sharing. The video with the most likes will win a bunch of great prizes including a Huawei Ascend D1 Quad smartphone, a custom signed deck by pro skaters at the event, a full day shoot with a professional skate photographer and framed copies of the best shots from the day. There are also 3 runner up prizes of a Huawei Ascend G300 smartphones to be won, along with limited edition Bowl-A-Rama T-shirts and caps.
With regards to sponsoring Bowl-A-Rama, Huawei Device Marketing Manager Poh-Lee Koh said “Huawei Device’s presence at Bowl-a-rama fits perfectly with our brand – we’re young, energetic and one of the most exciting challenger brands in the Australian market. Huawei Device aspires to be a global top-3 smartphone brand in the next three years, and having the brand on display at Bowl-a-rama will put Huawei Devices in the hands of a new crowd of mobile users and help us reach that goal.”
Huawei will also have a tent at the Bowl-A-Rama comp if you’re keen to check out the Ascend D1 Quad in person and see just what it can do. If you’re in the area for Bowl-A-Rama then you can also check out the other event that Huawei are sponsoring the Love and Guts Artshow which is being held on the 22nd of February.
It’s pretty hard to break into the pro ranks of any sport and gain notice by major sponsors so this could be a great way for aspiring boarders to get their name and talents out there, so if you’re into skating then give it a go. The phone prize is pretty awesome as well, Joel quite liked the Ascend D1 Quad and you can read his review here.
