One of the biggest pieces of news from their latest launch was that the Pixel 2 would come with 3 years of feature and security updates, now they’ve confirmed it in their support documents.
The updated support documentation for Google devices is showing the full three years for feature and security updates for Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL, while it also highlights that the Pixel is only getting 2 years of feature updates:

Google phones, be it Nexus, Android One or now Pixel have the bonus of receiving updates including both feature updates and security updates fast. That speed isn’t always guaranteed (Cough – Nexus 6) but updates do arrive and with the Pixel 2 you get 3 years of updates, far and above what other manufacturers offer. It’s possible Google is using the Pixel 2 update strategy to goad other manufacturers into similar levels of support, but we’ll have to see how that plays out.
If you must have the latest Android on your device, then the Pixel 2 is definitely the way to go and it’s now available to pre-order from the Google Store, Telstra and JB Hi-Fi.
This alone makes the purchase good value. I’ll get my money’s worth.
