After announcinfg a plan at the end of July to allow their customers to use their existing plan inclusions in the US, UK and New Zealand for just $5 per day extra, they’ve announced that this is now available to those Vodafone customers travelling to Europe.
With Australia’s multi-cultural heritage there’s sure to be a country in the 34 European countries that are now included which could interest some international travelling Australians: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.
Vodafone Chief Executive Officer Bill Morrow sees the value in the in the plans for travellers leading up to the Christmas Holiday season
This is the second step we are taking towards making overseas smartphone use affordable for Australian customers and business travellers. We had a huge response when we announced our plans included the US, UK and NZ for just five bucks a day, so we pushed hard to include Europe before the Christmas holiday season kicks off
The Vodafone Group, being one of the largest telephony companies in the world with a presence in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the United States has allowed them to leverage this great deal and the expansion of this offer into these markets looks set to continue with Mr Morrow advising ‘We are working as fast as we can to add other countries to the mix’.
If you’re travelling to New Zealand, the US or the UK or any of these new European countries this is a great option, especially when paired with the new Vodafone Red Plans.

Unless you’re powering through Europe, its always cheaper to get a local sim if you are going to be in that country for a few days to a week!
Absolutely! $5 a day is insane. One month alone would be $150 plus whatever you’re already paying for your usual contract. I Don’t see any benefit other than keeping your Australian number while you’re overseas – certainly not worth $5 a day if you ask me.
1) You only pay for the days you use your phone, not every day you’re overseas
2) The plan includes unlimited calls to Australia and the country you’re in. Does a local SIM let you call an international number for as long as you like?
3) Keeping your local number is a huge advantage, especially if you’re visiting multiple countries.
There’s three other benefits, but please let me know anything I’ve missed.
