If you took advantage of the Daydream View sale over the Christmas period, then a new use for it has appeared with Plex announcing an official VR app called Plex VR.
Plex VR came about when the team at Plex noticed a community project called PleVR which aimed to do the same thing. Instead of huffing and shutting it down, they brought Alex, the project lead, on board to continue development and now we have a way to watch Plex content in VR.
The Plex VR package is pretty neat, allowing you to watch videos stored on your Daydream View compatible device or your media server, including 3D and 360/180 video, on your Daydream headset. The screen can be massive – drive-in movie theater sized massive – and for users subscribed to Plex Pass you can also stream with your friends in real time with voice-chat.
The stantdalone Plex VR app is available in the Google Play Store now for free, so head over and grab it now and check it out.
