It’s that time of the month, Google this morning released the March Security Bulletin for Android, which includes fixes and patches for Android, and updates for Pixel devices.

The bulletin has, as usual, been released with two variants – 1st of March and 5th of March – with supported Google devices being targetted for the March 5th security update.

The OTA files and Factory images for the March update are available for supported devices = but Pixel and Pixel 2 owners should be seeing the OTA prompt on their devices now – or if you hit the ‘Check for Updates’ button in Settings, you should be prompted to download it as well. There’s a few images up, so here’s the list:

  • Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL – OPM1.171019.021
  • Pixel/Pixel XL – OPM1.171019.021
  • Nexus 6P – OPM3.171019.016 or OPM5.171019.017
  • Nexus 5X – OPM3.171019.016 or OPM5.171019.017 (Use this one if you’re on Softbank or Telstra)
  • Pixel C – N/A (yet).

Now, for Pixel and Nexus owners, there’s also some new functionality updates for devices as per the Pixel Security Bulletin.

Thanks for the heads up, Daniel.
I just installed the OTA update on my Pixel 2 XL, purchased from Google. Interesting that I haven’t received a prompt from Google to do it!

Having had Nexus devices for the past 4 years, it’ll be interesting (read frustrating) to see how long I now have to wait in my first month as the owner of a Telstra Pixel 2 XL…
