After announcing their budget range of handsets in May, HMD Global has today announced that the Nokia 3.1 will be arriving in Australia in August.

The highly anticipated follow-up to last years well received Nokia 3 is a premium, yet budget handset and will be available in Australia from August 2nd for $249 from both JB Hifi and Harvey Norman. The Nokia 3.1 will be available in three colours with the Black/Chrome and White/Iron coloured options available through JB Hifi and Harvey Norman while the Blue/Copper will be offered exclusively through Harvey Norman.

The handset runs Android One, meaning you get all the updates with HMD Global promising that the Nokia 3.1 will receive three years of monthly security patches and two years of OS updates, including the highly anticipated Android P update coming later this year.

Mark Trundle, Country Manager AU NZ, HMD Global, said:

We believe everyone should have access to the most useful, dependable and future-proof smartphones in the world. Nokia 3 has been an extremely successful part of the Nokia smartphone line-up in Australia. With the new Nokia 3.1, we’ve crafted a perfect balance between power and design in our most affordable Android One smartphone to date. Aussies can experience the latest Google innovations like Google Assistant and Google Photos as well as enjoy more storage and battery-maximising features that continue the Nokia legacy.

The Nokia 3.1 features a curved 5.2″ 18:9 aspect ratio HD resolution IPS LCD display embedded in a CNC machined aluminium frame that fits perfectly. The phone is powered by a MediaTek 6750 octa-core processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB of on-board storage with a microSD card slot capable of expanding storage to a further 256GB. Daniel I’ve only had nexus or pixel since the nexus 7. Is there any reason to try the new August galaxy note 9?
