The announcement this week of Android 9 (Pie) has of course kicked off the yearly question of which handsets will be updated (and when), and HTC has announced their intentions for the latest update.

HTC announced the handsets which will be receiving the update to Android 9 on their Twitter account overnight. The list of handsets being updated to Pie shouldn’t surprise anyone with their 2017 and 2018 flagship models on the list.

The list doesn’t include some fairly high profile 2017 models such as the HTC U Play and U Ultra which were released as pre-cursors to the HTC U11. There’s also notably no Desire handsets listed which is disappointing for fans of their low-mid range phones.

There’s no time-frames for the Android Pie update, and HTC does have a little work to do to add their Sense goodies on top of the Android Pie update. There’s a lot to like about the HTC handsets, and hopefully we don’t have long to wait.
