The guys over at Pocket Casts have done it again today releaseing a major version update for their hugely popular app. The release brings a redesigned interface for users and a change in the way you interact with the app.

The key changes have been outlined in a blog post and the kick ass feature for my mind is the sync of your “up next” list across all signed in devices, a tweak to the share component of the app, a listening history so you can revisit items of interest far easier than in the past and a really useful search feature for when your colleauge appears on All About Android, or a particular episode of your favourite podcast.

The experience so far…

We’ve been lucky enough to forge a strong relationship with the team at Shifty Jelly over a number of years and through this we’ve had a number of our team playing with the Alpha of Version 7 for a few weeks. While there have been hiccups (in Alpha you must expect this, if you’re not ok with it – Don’t join an Alpha!) the overall user experience is pretty solid.

When the upgrade came through I had to log into my devices again to get the sync working properly, however since then it has not faulted across any of the devices I’m currently running (2 tablets and 2 phones).

I’ve had a couple of minor playback issues which were resolved very quickly by updates. So far it’s looking like an really nice upgrade, but the interface changes do take a little getting used to.

If you’re keen to take a look at the changes, you can join their public beta in the Play Store and let us know what you think of the update.
