With a little over two weeks until MWC, there’s a lot of information sneaking out about looking product reveals this week. Sony isn’t escaping the good ship Leako, with WinFuture revealing what appears to be a new entries in the company’s budget-minded Xperia XA series, imaginatively titled XA3.
WinFuture is expecting XA3 and XA3 Ultra to launch with the company’s bigger flagship XZ4 (and rumoured XZ4 Compact) in Barcelona, but doesn’t seem quite so sure whether these pictures are the standard or Ultra editions. What is clear is the colour options – black, silver, blue, and pink.
Earlier rumours pegged the Xperia XZ4 screen aspect ratio at 21:9, and it looks like this might be a thing for Sony this year.
Sony is yet to embrace the “notch” screen design, and it looks like that will continue to be the case – the XA3 images shown here have minimal bezels around three sides of the screen, but a larger black size at the top.
Of note:
While Sony has embraced rear fingerprint readers with their latest flagship models, it seems reluctant to let the power-button/fingerprint-reader combo go – it seems to have made return here – that, or there’s an in-screen reader (an feature unlikely to debut in the XA series), or there simply isn’t one.
That’s a dual camera on the back of the phone, too – notable mainly because it took Sony a while to get on board with this trend, but now it’s even turning up in their budget-minded handsets. In this case it’s claimed to be a dual 23/8MP shooter, which means bokeh for everyone!
The bottom of the phone shows a USB C port (not too surprising, Sony was quick to embrace this one), and bottom-firing speakers. There appears to be a 3.5mm headphone port at the top.
The side shows a fairly large panel, possibly housing dual SIM slots or a Micro SD slot – or both.
On specs, WinFuture is claiming a Snapdragon 660, 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage and 3,300 mAh battery.
