We have heard rumours over the last few months that the new successor to the HTC One, the so called HTC M8, would come with on screen buttons instead of the usual capacity buttons the company normally uses for its device lineup.
As per the picture above, it shows the standard back, home, and multi-tasking Android buttons. This design fits with the Nexus 5 and Motorola devices like the Moto X and RAZR line which also exclusively use on-screen buttons.
Having on-screen buttons instead of capacitive buttons would be a welcome break away from the norm for HTC’s flagship devices. You can see the evolution of HTC’s buttons below:
It will be interesting to see if HTC does decide to utilise on-screen buttons and how these buttons would interact with the App dock and HTC Sense 6, which is also rumoured to be included within the device.
Would you welcome the on-screen buttons on the HTC M8? Do you think the company has made the right choice if they do go with on-screen buttons? We would like to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
Back, Home, Multitasking.
That’s all I want. I’m happy.
It seems odd that they wouldn’t use the same “<" symbol to represent back, even if it is on-screen. Especially as they're retaining the reductive style for the home icon.
