The applications for tickets for Google I/O 2020 closed just yesterday and now they are already notifying successful applicants via email.

The ticket winners were selected at random with them now getting the honour of forking over US$1,150 for general admission or US$375 for a student/academic. Applicants who have been unsuccessful will receive a gentle let-down email from Google in the next few days.

Of course unsuccessful applicants can still watch the entire event via live stream but they will not have the opportunity to interact with Google’s developers onsite but there will be opportunities at some sites around the globe for developers to interact with the Google experts at I/O Extended events.

At this stage it is business as usual for Google I/O but given the epidemic and most likely soon to be pandemic COVID-19 virus Google does have a policy where registrants can cancel their registration up until April 15 and receive a full refund.

Session topics and times along with respective apps will be posted in the coming weeks. Keep any eye out for anything you may want to see as Google will live stream all sessions on YouTube.

At this stage Ausdroid is hoping to be on the ground at I/O and will bring you all the latest Googley items as they happen.

I really hope COVID-19 doesn’t scuttle Google I/O this year.
