OPPO only launched the Find X2 Pro into Australia earlier this week and if you haven’t read our review of it you should — it’s a beast of a phone which fits and belongs in the ultra premium segment of the market. Now it seems they are offering it up for those who want to test out the Android 11 Beta.
Although the Android 11 Beta was only announced yesterday OPPO have already confirmed that they will make Android 11 Beta available to users before the end of the month. According to a statement provided to Ausdroid by OPPO they will be unveiling not just a pure Android 11 Beta for the Find X2 Pro but instead a ColorOS version of Android 11 Beta.
“With a user base of over 350 million, ColorOS is one of the key partners for Google globally. Our consumer insights reveal that our users enjoy the familiarity of stock Android with the added customisations and features unique to ColorOS,” Michael Tran, MD of OPPO Australia.
Our close partnership with Google guarantees ColorOS gets updated with each year’s latest Android version. We will be unveiling ColorOS Android 11 Beta version later this month on our newly launched Find X2 Pro”
At this stage it is unclear just how Aussies will be able to gain access to this Beta and whether it will need an unlocked bootloader and whether it will void any warranties. You can be sure we will be checking in with OPPO all of these questions before we get around to installing the Beta.
Whatever the case we hope that it means that OPPO will be able to provide the Android 11 full release update to the Find X2 Pro in a much more timely fashion than the Reno 5G and other flagships of years past.
My Oppo Reno 5G got Android 10 (and Color OS 7.1) today 🙂 Let’s hope that more timely feature and security updates are going to be more forthcoming from Oppo. Software updates have never been a priority for Oppo. But to compete with Samsung, Apple etc then they have to up their game. Good to see that the Find X2 Pro is already getting Android 11 Beta.
