The Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA) has announced that it has asked Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) to block more overseas gambling websites, whilst it has asked for aussies to withdraw their money and services from the sites that will be blocked soon.
The overseas gambling websites include:
- Syndicate Casino
- 7 Bit Casino
- Casino Nic
- Fast Pay Casino
- iLucki
- King Billy Casino
- Woo Casino
- BitStarz
- Loki Casino
- Golden Star Casino
- Gunsbet
- Spinago
- Joo Casino
- Bet Chain
- Get Slots
- Joka VIP Room
- King Johnnie
- Wild Card City
The move to block came after the ACMA received numerous complaints. It then undertook investigations which found them to be operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
The ACMA has stated that website blocking is one of a range of enforcement options it undertakes to protect Australians against illegal online gambling and that since the ACMA made its first blocking request back in November 2019, a total of 222 illegal gambling websites have been blocked.
Since the new Interactive Gambling Act 2001 came into force, a total of over 100 illegal services have since pulled out of the Australian market since the ACMA started enforcing new illegal offshore gambling rules in 2017.
If you use or have money saved on these sites, the ACMA is asking for Australian to remove your money and close your accounts as soon as possible.
You can also find out more information about online gambling on the ACMA’s website including a register of licensed interactive wagering services to check legal services in Australia, and to make a complaint about an illegal site.
What are they “protecting” us against, exactly?
You’re supposedly being protected from ripped off by criminal illegal overseas sites.
However, you are still fair game to be ripped off by the criminal ‘legal’ local and overseas sites, such as the ones which infest sport broadcasts.
