Back in my day, when we went to school we had to carry a book for each subject, textbooks, pens and pencils. This meant school bags were pretty heavy at times, but these days it’s a requirement at most schools that students have a laptop or iPad. This opened the market to providers like Dynabook to provide affordable laptops that can meet this need.
The Dynabook E10-S is the latest in this line offering an 11.6” laptop with Windows 10 Pro, ready to tackle the education sector and the trials of daily life in that space. It weighs just 1.15 kg and measures 19.9 mm thin, it’s got a slip-resistant design and has a surrounding protective rubber bumper to protect — capable of withstanding falls of up to 76 cm — it from daily life. The keyboard is spill-resistant and has mechanically anchored keys to prevent breakages and tampering with the hardware. Like many other laptops, the E10-S has 180-degree hinges to support tablet mode, A-frame or a standard laptop setup.
The spec list for the machine will do the job for daily use:
- Intel® Celeron® N4020 processor
- Intel® UHD Graphics
- 4GB of DDR4 memory and 128GB of solid state storage
- 802.11ac Wi-Fi® and a HD webcam
- Stereo speakers, headphone jack and built in microphones
- HDMI®, USB-A and USB-C (video, charging and peripheral capable), Ethernet and Bluetooth
- 45Wh battery for all day power
It all seems pretty good, but we don’t yet have pricing for the Australian market. Based on the US pricing of $290 (AU$375.00), we believe that the E10-S is likely to land on Australian shores for around $500 — confirmation is expected within the next few weeks — making it even cheaper than the Asus BR1100 we saw only a couple of days ago.
This post regarding the dynabook and education focussed laptop is very useful and relevant.
