With 5G beginning to slowly roll out across the country, our big 3 telcos are slowly adding more and more 5G devices to both is postpaid and prepaid users and Optus has begun adding its first 5G enabled devices.
Samsung Galaxy A22 5G
The first 5G enabled device is the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G, which comes with a 6.6-inch Infinity-V Display (1080×2408) with a 90Hz refresh rate.
It’s is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700 5G chipset, 4GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage which can be expanded to 1TB via MicroSD card. The Galaxy A22 5G comes with a triple rear camera made up of 48MP (Main, F1.8), 5MP (UltraWide, F2.2), 2MP (Depth, F2.4) cameras whilst the front-facing is an 8MP camera.
It comes with a broad range of connectivity including Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 5.0.
It runs Android 11 right out of the box and is available to purchase from your local Optus store or the Optus website for $349.
Optus X Swift 5G
The second 5G device Optus has put in its lineup is the Optus X Swift 5G which looks to be a rebadged ZTE device.
The Optus X Swift 5G is equipped with:
- 6.52-inch IPS HD+ LCD (720x1600px @ 269ppi)
- 2.2GHz Octa-Core processor chipset – although the spec sheet doesn’t confirm specifics
- 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage – expandable to 2TB via microSD Card
In terms of cameras, the Optus X Swift 5G comes with a triple rear camera set up consisting of a 16MP (Main) + 5MP (Macro) + 2MP (Depth). The front-facing camera is an 8MP camera that should meet those insta selfie needs.
The Optus X Swift 5G comes with Bluetooth 5.1, a fingerprint sensor located on the side of the device, NFC capabilities and has a 3.5mm audio jack for those who still prefer to use wired audio products.
It’s running Android 11 however, ZTE hasn’t traditionally been one of the OEM’s who delivers regular security or firmware updates. The Optus X Swift 5G is is available to purchase from your local Optus store or the Optus website for $279.
