Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event is set to kick off in the US in a couple of days, and there have been plenty of leaks about the upcoming products. Some leaks are fairly boring, some are fairly detailed, but we’ve come to recognise which ones are worth paying attention to.
WinFuture‘s Roland Quandt has been sharing detailed information about pre-release Samsung products for years, and he’s published what appears to be a fairly detailed, official-looking spec-sheet for the upcoming new phones.
While there are three models of Galaxy S23 to be announced, two – the S23 and S23 Plus – appear to be basically the same, with screen size and battery the only real difference. The Galaxy S23 Ultra, however, appears to be a more significant upgrade.
Tom’s Hardware reports that it will feature a higher resolution screen (up to 3,088 x 1,440), a built-in S-Pen, as well as a significantly more capable camera featuring a whopping 200MP capacity. There’s some ambiguity about the front-facing camera though – it’s listed above as just 12MP, whereas last year’s model featured a 40MP selfie camera.
The last detail to be shared is the chipset inside these phones and, while there’s obviously nothing official, leaks point to a custom-designed Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, though – if previous years are anything to go by – Samsung may also use its in-house chipsets in some models and markets also.
Whatever’s coming, we’ll know more in the wee hours of February 2nd in eastern Australia, with the Unpacked event starting at 10am Pacific in California.
