Sony has been a market leader in bringing ‘life-proof’ phones to the world. They were among the first companies to bring waterproof phones to market with their higher-end devices and now they’re bringing that ability to the mid-range market, announcing the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua.
The Xperia M2 Aqua will be available in two colour choices – Black and White – and comes with some respectable, if not mind blowing hardware. With a 4.8″ qHD (960×540) display, 1.2 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor, 8MP Exmor RS sensor Camera and 2300mAh battery, the phone isn’t high end, but with LTE included it’s certainly going to hold its own in the mid-range market.
Sony is hoping that there will be enough market looking at the waterproof aspect of the phone to really sell the device, something they’ve really pushed in the marketing video they’ve released :
We’ve yet to hear if the Xperia M2 Aqua will be launched in Australia, they have listed Asia Pacific as a potential market for the phone, but we’ll wait and see. We certainly look forward to testing it out by doing push-ups in the rain while watching videos on it if it does.
