As we approach the one year anniversary of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S, rumours and renders of the successor, the aptly named Galaxy Tab S2 are now beginning to surface. Online leaker @0nleaks recently released a render of at least one model of the tablet, and has just followed up with another two, which show off the rear and bottom end.

The tablet will be all metal according to NoWhereElse.fr, the website run by Steve Hemmerstoffer, the man behind the @onleaks twitter account. According to Steve, the tablet on display is actually the 9.7″ version, showing a change in direction for Samsung who have traditionally made their larger tablets landscape oriented.

According to SamMobiles, the Tab S2 series will indeed be going for the portrait look, also picking up a 4:3 aspect ratio. There will be two screen sizes – 8″ and 9.7″ – and just like the original Tab S tablets, will come with a high-resolution (2048×1536) Super AMOLED display.

The Galaxy Tab S2 will be powered by a 64-bit Exynos processor and come with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage (backed up with a microSD card) and have an 8MP rear-camera and 2.1MP front-facing camera. The phone will have Cat 6 LTE and run Android 5.0.

We can apparently expect to see these two new tablets next month, with Samsung planning a launch – though nothing has been announced. We’re looking forward to seeing what Samsung has to offer and how quickly the cries of ‘iPad clone’ begin to arise.
