As Android fans, we’re mostly fans of technology, science and all things bright and flashy as well, so a new app from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory called Moon Tours, is sure to generate some interest.
The app is aimed at lunar scientists, engineers, mission planners but also the public, giving them access to data from current and previous lunar missions. There’s a wide range of information available in the app such as ‘scientific datasets/layers that include digital elevation maps (DEMs), slope maps, hazard maps, gravity maps, mineralogy maps, and imagery’.
The app is a fairly sizeable 27MB in size, but it’s fairly well laid out, with a 3D terrain viewer one of the more exciting features you can check out. There’s decent tablet and phone layouts, with the app really lending itself to being used on a tablet with all the excellent visuals available.
The Moon Tours app is free to download from Google Play now for devices running Android 4.0 and above. Check it out and see what you think.
