Candy-crush-saga-portada

While most of Australia was caught up with watching horses running in circles, a major, major transaction just took place. If you’ve ever played Candy Crush Saga on Android or iOS, then you’ve used King’s software, and it’s now worth an estimate PILE of money.

It has been announced that Activision will pay $18 for each share in King Digital Entertainment plc, in a move that will see $5.9 BILLION US dollars change hands. Mobile gaming is a huge industry, valued somewhere in the vicinity of $36 billion for 2015, so this transaction is certainly one of the more notable events in mobile gaming this year.

In the short term there’ll be no impacts for users of King’s games and software, with King likely to remain as a stand-alone business unit within Activision’s portfolio.
