Cross platform messaging tool, Telegram has been updated to version 3.3 over the last couple of days, bringing with it updates including Admins, Supergroups and Quick Sharing for Android users.

The update has a lot of tools for administering group chats, including the ability to turn off the option to have all members as admins and appoint individual members of the chats as admins, which works out well when that over-sized group gets a little rowdy. There’s some tools for admins which will make life easier as well, including:

  • New members can see the entire message history when they join.
  • Deleted messages will disappear for all members.
  • Ordinary members can only delete their own messages.
  • Supergroups are muted by default and send fewer joined/left notifications.

The Supergroup feature has now expanded, going from a maximum of 200 users right up to now incorporating 1,000 users if needed – and by default, all these supergroups are muted so you don’t get over-run with notifications.

Android users get a specific Quick Share menu, accessible by tapping on the forwarding buttons right next to channel messages. This will let you quickly share something with a user if you need to.

The update is live right now in Google Play so head over and make sure you’re running the latest version.
