Android Wear
Google recently announced the broader update to Android 6.0 would begin rolling out to Android Wear devices, activating the speaker for compatible hardware, bringing more gesture support, improved messaging support and Marshmallow features such as Doze. The update has begun rolling out to Moto 360 Gen 1 owners, but it looks like Huawei Watch owners may have to wait just a little longer.

The Gen 1 Moto 360 is being shown some love for once, with several owners reporting the update – Android 6.0.1 software build MEC23I – is being presented to their watch. To receive the update you do need to have the watch paired with your Android Device with the Android Wear app.

While we haven’t heard from LG, Sony or Asus about their Marshmallow update for Android Wear, Huawei UK has spoken up about the update through twitter saying the update will be here in the next month:

While there’s no reason it couldn’t start being pushed straight away, the choice of words does indicate a slight delay. Huawei have been testing the Android Wear 6.0.1 update since at least the start of the year, with one lucky owner getting a beta build early.

The update is definitely coming, but it could take just a little while longer for Huawei Watch owners, as for other manufacturers we’ll have to wait and see.

I figured all the watches got the update by now so I went out and bought the Huawei watch and its stuck on 5.1.1 I’m not happy about this posting. Looks like I should return the watch until the update drops, by then maybe a newer watch will be out or the price of the Huawei watch will drop. Its a shame I was really excited about being… Read more »

Any word on those with the original g watch and gear live?
Older but still a solid experience.
Got it on my 360, will see what results are like.

I got my Moto 360 (gen 1) marshmallow update last week, no problem’s with the download either, I had more issues going from 4.4 to 5 (due to the lack of WiFi compatibility). Marshmallow is a welcome update to the gen 1

Update couldn’t download on my moto 360 (1st Gen) because it kept saying that I needed more charge when I was at 100%. Next day I checked back and the software update had gone. It said that there weren’t any software updates even though I just had it. Contacting Motorola. Awaiting for reply.

Weird, no issues at my end. Nervous though that battery seems worse, was hoping it would be better…
