VLC would be one of, if not the most popular media playback applications in the world. They have Mac, Linux, Windows, iOS, Windows Phone, Blackberry and of course Android versions available. Now there’s an even more compelling reason to do so; the Beta version for Android now has the added capability to stream media from network sources straight onto your Android screen.
The capability for most users will probably end at Windows and Samba (SMB) shared directories. It is capable though of streaming directly over any UPnP, NFS, FTP or SFTP source as well. So if you’ve got enough bandwidth available you’ll be able to stream from secure web sources and potentially save a heap of space on your device.
Is network capability a bonus for your streaming habits?
