Google Keep

It’s what’s come to be known as ‘update Wednesday in the US which means Google is busy updating their apps, or introducing new ones. Today, Google Keep, their task/ list management service is getting new features for both Chrome with a new extension being released, as well as updates for the Android & iOS apps.

Chrome Extension
Have you been wanting an easy way to save web pages, or even parts of web pages, from your chrome browser to Keep? If yes today’s update has you covered.

ChromeExtension

Simply install the chrome extension which gives your two options for making a note in Keep. Either click on the badge in the toolbar to save the whole page, with or without an added note, or select a section of the page and a new ‘save to keep’ option will pop up in the right click menu.

Share from Android (or iOS)
We are also seeing some enhancements to the share menu intent from the Android and iOS apps.

SaveToKeep (1)

Whilst you could already share to Keep the new UI simplifies the process making it a bit more of a seamless experience.

#hastags
Who doesn’t love a good hashtag? We’re all becoming used to assigning meaning and grouping content online via hashtags, well now you can do the same thing in Keep.

Labels (1)

Simply add a hashtag to any note to allow for easy sorting of your notes.

UI refresh
What’s an update without a new look? The Android interface has been given a minor update to colocate similar functions together.

CondensedToolbar (2)

According to Google the apps menus and functions have been divided into:

  • Getting things done
  • Adding content and
  • Customising and sharing

That’s it for keep for now. Unfortunately today’s update didn’t bring full integration of reminders between all of Googles various apps with reminders built in. Hopefully, that’s on the drawing board somewhere. If you haven’t used Google Keep, you can try it out now on the web, or grab the app from Google Play for free today and see what you think.

Do you use Keep as your note taker/ to do list? What new features would you like to see added? Let us know in the comments.
