After Samsung Galaxy S6 models, including the Note 5 and S6 Edge+ began receiving their Marshmallow update in March, both Telstra and Vodafone users are now reporting the update as live as well.
Vodafone lists an Android Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and Note 5 in their Software update blog released on the 16th of June, but we’re only starting to hear about it now.
Telstra customers with a Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ should be seeing the update now, with the release scheduled for the 17th of June, while owners of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge should start seeing the update to Marshmallow rolling out from the 27th of June. Telstra advises that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge update will include the Android Security Bulletin May 2016 fixes.
Optus customers saw a 1.2GB Over-The-Air update download made available for their devices back in March, so it’s likely very similar in size for both Telstra and Vodafone owners. Changes as you can see from the changelog below include updated Touchwiz, Doze implementation and other bits and pieces.
If you have one of the phones from Telstra or Vodafone, go to Settings > About Device > Download Updates to check for any updates available for your handset. now.
Seriously..wow. This is just pathetic. My unlocked s6 got the update a few months back, and let’s be honest, that’s just not good enough either for a $1000 phone.
S5 update is taking forever
Pffffff Marshmallow!
This is why Nexus.
No this is why you don’t buy android phones locked to a network.
No phones bought on contract are locked to a network
Same thing, that’s what I meant.
Even taking carriers out of the equation, Samsung has always been way too slow releasing updates to their phones.
It hasn’t been perfect but it’s fast enough.
Each to their own but I won’t stand for anything less than a month. Even then it’s not ideal. Nexus all the way.
It looks like the Note 4 has been getting Marshmallow on Verizon and AT&T over the last few weeks but no word on that happening here. My wife has a Note 4 on Voda.
Screw marshmallow updates, how about some security updates for the note 4 Samsung ??? Nothing since the January update.
